hidden money tea roomsSet in the Market Square, right in the heart of the historic market town of Malton, Hidden Monkey Tea Rooms welcome all visitors – including well-behaved children and dogs!

We provide a wide choice of fresh, prepared-on-the-premises, quality food, ranging from all-day breakfasts to light snacks and sandwiches and filled jacket potatoes, as well as main meals including hearty soups, cottage/steak and mushroom pies, omelettes and salads. (Our meat, free-range eggs and vegetables are locally-sourced).

We’ve also got delicious home-made puds, including apple pies, sticky toffee pudding and seasonal crumbles.

The afternoon speciality is delicious traditional home-baked cakes and cream teas.

There’s a range of quality beverages throughout the day: pots of finest Yorkshire tea, filter coffee as well as a variety of continental flavours – cappuccino, latte, espresso, mocha, and soft drinks and milkshakes – something for every taste!

Our opening hours are 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Saturday.

We’re in the Market Square, at the top of Saville Street. Our premises are Victorian (in earlier days Moon’s Ladies and Children’s Outfitters). Rumour has it that Alfred Lamert Dickens, a railway engineer who built the line between Malton and Scarborough, and brother of Charles Dickens, the author, had his offices in our upstairs rooms. You’ll find a fascinating collection of old photographs of Malton, as well as a selection of watercolours for sale. Our upstairs rooms are available for use by local groups – with no hire charge (as long as food and drink are purchased from us). We can accommodate up to 60 people: please call us to book in advance. A local Book Club is already using this facility. We also run a cake tin hire service, with a variety of shapes and sizes of tins available – ideal for those who do only occasional or events baking - for weddings, anniversaries or birthdays.
